Custom Engraved Tumblers for Leadership Recognition and Ceremonial Gifts

Recognition gifts often carry deep meaning, especially when they celebrate leadership roles within respected organizations. Recently, I had the opportunity to create a custom engraved tumbler for a local Shriner who wanted to present a unique gift to the newly appointed Potentate of Sesostris Shrine.

This project combined thoughtful design, personalized engraving, and a distinctive tumbler style to create a one-of-a-kind commemorative piece worthy of the occasion.

A Unique Tumbler with a Striking Finish

The tumbler selected for this project stood out immediately. Rather than using the typical stainless steel drinkware often seen with laser engraving, this tumbler featured a navy blue exterior with a copper undercoating.

When engraved, the navy coating is removed to reveal the copper beneath, producing a rich metallic contrast that feels both warm and elegant. This type of finish gives engraved designs a premium look and makes the artwork stand out beautifully.

Because of this unique coating, careful laser settings were used to ensure the engraving revealed the copper layer cleanly without damaging the surface beneath it.

Designing a Graphic Worthy of the Occasion

For ceremonial or leadership gifts, the design is just as important as the item itself. In this case, I created a custom graphic that incorporated:

• The Shriner Fez and logo

• The chapter name Sesostris Shrine

• The name of the newly appointed Potentate

Combining these elements allowed the tumbler to represent both the organization and the individual receiving the honor. The layout was designed to be balanced and visually strong, ensuring that the engraved graphic would be both readable and striking once revealed in copper.
