Laser Engraving Questions

I can engrave on most small to mid-sized items made of metal, wood, leather, or acrylic. My most common projects include powder-coated stainless steel tumblers, anodized aluminum tags, cutting boards, plaques, leather patches, and acrylic awards. Absolutely. Many customers bring in their own tumblers, tools, or keepsakes. As long as the material is engravable and fits within my laser’s working area, I’m happy to work with items you provide.

Yes — I keep a selection of powder-coated 20oz stainless steel tumblers in popular colors. You can purchase one directly through me and have it engraved, or bring your own. Either way, you’ll get the same level of care and quality. If you bring your own, there is a one-time setup fee.

At this time, I don't engrave glass, and some plastics can emit harmful fumes when lasered. If you have an unusual material, contact me first and I’ll confirm if it’s safe and compatible with my machines.

My fiber laser has a marking area of about 6” x 6”, and my CO₂ laser can handle items up to 35” x 24”. For oversized pieces, I can sometimes engrave in sections — but if a project is too large, I’ll always be upfront and suggest the best alternative.

Yes! I offer bulk discounts on orders of 10 or more identical items — great for company gifts, team drinkware, event swag, and promotional items. I also help local businesses with branding and serial marking for tools or equipment.

Yes, depending on the material. The CO₂ laser does especially well with raster engraving on wood and coated materials, allowing fine detail and shading. For best results, I recommend high-resolution black-and-white artwork or logos in vector format. Photographs require a lot of trial and error testing, so those projects will quote high.

Most small projects can be completed within 3–5 business days, depending on current workload. Bulk or complex designs may take a little longer. I’ll always give you an estimated turnaround time before starting your project.

Vector files like .AI, .EPS, or .SVG work best. I can also use high-quality .PDF, .PNG, or .JPG files for simpler designs. If you don’t have artwork ready, I can help recreate or prepare your design for engraving.

Yes — I can ship anywhere in the U.S., though most of my customers are right here in Lincoln and prefer local pickup. Shipping rates depend on package size and location; I’ll include those details in your quote if needed.

Engraved designs are permanent and won’t peel or fade. For tumblers, hand washing is recommended to protect the powder coating and preserve the engraved finish (however, I've tested the tumblers I sell and they make it through the dishwasher without issue). Wood and leather items should be kept dry and occasionally conditioned to prevent cracking or discoloration.
